“Bateli” made a mistake.

Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh said that the UN envoy Abdullah Batili made a mistake and exceeded his powers, in his recent press conference in Tripoli, when he described the parliament as one of the outgoing bodies.

Aguila Saleh explained in a televised interview that Batelli’s description indicates that he was not familiar with the constitutional declaration and the political agreement, saying: “Bateli is not a ruler of Libya, and I am not more keen on the Libyans than themselves.”

Aqila Saleh added that the constitutional and legal basis for the elections will be convened next June, and from here the role of the government and the Commission for implementation begins, indicating that the House of Representatives cannot be held responsible for the election delay due to the lack of readiness of the Electoral Commission and the absence of a unified, neutral government.

Aqila Saleh continued that the House of Representatives and the Joint State Committee 6 + 6 to issue electoral laws will be formed within a month, stressing that the 13th constitutional amendment is the constitutional basis now according to the political agreement.

Aqila Saleh indicated that if the joint committee between the two houses 6 + 6 does not complete its tasks, the previous electoral laws will remain in effect.
