Basuki admits that he will be appointed as the head of the IKN authority, this is AHY’s response

Basuki Hadimuljono, the former Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), said he has been given the mandate to be the definitive CEO of the Islands Capital Authority (OIKN). It is reported that the inauguration will take place on Thursday (24/10/2024).

Responding to this, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was prepared to say a lot. He admitted that he had just heard the news.

“I didn’t hear that. Oh, is that so?” said AHY, meeting at the office of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), South Jakarta, Wednesday (23/10/2024).

The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development is a new ministry, led by AHY. In the future, this ministry will also coordinate a lot with the Islands Capital Authority (IKN) regarding its development.

When they met separately, the Deputy Minister (Wamen) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), Diana Kusumastuti, showed a similar response. Diana was reluctant to say much, but her face lit up and she held back a smile when she answered questions about Basuki’s establishment.

“We will see first. I haven’t heard about it yet (Basuki will be announced as the definitive CEO of OIKN tomorrow). But hopefully (the case is real),” he said.

For reference, Basuki himself was previously the Acting Head of the IKN Authority. He replaces Bambang Susantono who retired in June 2024.

When he met when positions were given (sertijab) at the PUPR Ministry Office a few days ago, Basuki admitted that he was given the mandate to be the definitive CEO of the Capital Islands Authority (OIKN ).

“I am not ahead of this, but according to the Secretariat of State and Pak Jokowi, I am still at OIKN,” explained Basuki at the PUPR Ministry Office, Monday (21/10/2024).

The process for Basuki to become the definitive CEO of OIKN is being handled by the Secretariat of the Ministry of State. However, Basuki does not know exactly when his position as the definitive CEO of OIKN will be established. It is still waiting for the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) to be issued.

“I don’t know yet, the President’s Order is not there yet. The former gentlemen of the State Secretariat are taking care of it,” explained the PUPR minister for two periods.

Basuki also ensured that the development of IKN would continue in the government of President Prabowo Subianto. The goal is to complete the ecosystem development for the legislature, such as the MPR and DPR buildings, and the judiciary, such as the MK building, in 2026.

“When I was called by Mr. Prabowo, he said that he would do things faster. If he is the executive now, in a few years, in two years, the judiciary and the legislature must be build,” he said.
