Bastien Caraccioli will sign his 100th participation in a race at the next marathon in New York on November 3. A passion for running that emerged after a car accident and the amputation of his left arm.
from the “trust” and way to “frame [s]us every day“. This is what brings fun to Bastia Caraccioli that cannot be found elsewhere.
Having had his left arm amputated since 2017 following a car accident, the 29-year-old has thrown himself into the race since that date. “It started with stadium laps, then races, tracks and two marathons. Now it is ingrained in me. I have only had great experiences and met great people thanks to sport.“, he says.
So, after Paris and Stockholm, Bastien Caraccioli will start the famous New York marathon on November 3rd. A meeting he has been training for since last August.
“I have 40 workouts planned, I have four left to do. I run on the road between 10 and 25 kilometers per session. And I was planning three or four workouts per week.” Preparation that he ends with muscle strengthening and core training sessions.

Originally from Argiusta-Moriccio, in Taravo, Bastien Caraccioli set himself a goal: to finish the race in 3 hours 40 minutes. This is the time I spent in Paris and Stockholm. There I am going to run with a friend who lives there and whose first marathon is there, but she pushes me to run at my own pace.“
If running is an “achievement”, it is also an investment. All foreign runners who want to participate must contact an organization and book four nights of hotels in addition to registration. “In my case, the marathon costs 2,800 euros, only the bib is 580 euros“, explained Bastien Caraccioli.
An amount that the runner managed to collect by organizing events, especially sports events, for the benefit of his association “Atrape-rêve” which he founded in 2021.For example, I go to schools voluntarily to tell about my journey and to promote sports values. After that everyone interprets all this as they wish.”, he explains.

A few weeks before the start, Bastien Caraccioli is sure that this race will be “mythical“. “As luck would have it, this is my 100th bib, and five days later I will celebrate my 30th birthday in New York. Let’s say the planets are aligned“, he laughs.
For now, Bastien Caraccioli does not want to think about the race he will be involved in after staying in America. “Everything in its time, he laughs. I can pretty much see the main points but I can’t get away.“
Refusing to talk about pride, he says he is happy with his journey. “I see pride in the eyes of my loved ones who have supported me endlessly since the beginning. And when I see that, I know I did something right.“
