Sepang –
Ducati’s new rider Aeneas Bastianini claimed to be satisfied with the speed of his new ride. However, Bastianini felt a number of obstacles.
The 25-year-old racer carried out the Sepang MotoGP pre-season test quite well. On the first day, Bastianini finished in third place with a difference of 0.262 seconds from Marco Bezzecchi, who topped the list of fastest drivers.
However, on the second test day (11/2/2023) Bastianini finished ninth with a difference of 0.458 seconds from the fastest racer Jorge Martin. However, this session was arguably not optimal because most of it took place in wet conditions due to rain.
Preseason test MotoGP Sepang 2023 will be completed on Sunday (12/2). After that the pre-season tests will continue in Portimao, Portugal before holding the opening series of the 2023 MotoGP championship.
Enea Bastianini admitted that he was not confident with the rear of the Ducati motorbike. As a result, Bastianini had difficulty maximizing his speed when he entered corners.
“My day wasn’t bad. At the start with the dry conditions it was okay. We tried to do a lot of laps with the tires that were used but I wasn’t very fast. For tomorrow we have to work on this area. In the afternoon, with the rain, we made a step which is good, especially with the engine,” he said.
“Yeah, the new motorbike is fast. However, it’s difficult for me now to bring speed and to come out fast from corners because I’m not too confident with the rear of the motorbike on this new motorbike,” continued Bastianini quoted Crash.
“The biggest strength of this bike is a little different and I had to change my riding style. It’s hard to explain but I couldn’t enter the corners with [motor] the old one,” continued the former Gresini racer.
“I have to enter the corners more slowly and use more acceleration. Also, the corners [miring] the current maximum is not right.” Bastianini add.
