At the end of this 17th day in National 1, Bastia is now one point ahead of Quevilly-Rouen. At the bottom of the table, SC Lyon are still in last position despite their victory against Bourg-en-Bresse.
The resumption sounded for the clubs of National 1. And this year 2021 began with a big shock between two teams of the podium, namely Bastia and Quevilly-Rouen. Before the match, Bruno Irles’ team led the championship with 31 points, followed by Red Star and Corsicans, 29 points each. Thus, by winning, the latter could overtake the Normans and overturn the podium. And it is done. If the Red Star failed to do so after a loss to Bastia-Borgo (3-1), thehe Sporting Club de Bastia team seized its chance and beat Quevilly-Rouen (2 to 1), a victory synonymous with 1st place for the Corsican club (32 points). From the start of the match, Bastia set the tone. Indeed, the Bastiais Chaouki Ben Saada scored the first goal of the match from the first minute! Then, a few minutes before half-time, his teammate Antony Robic doubled the bet (39th). In the second half, the Irles players returned to the pitch with the desire to catch up. In additional time, Andrew Jung closed the gap (90th + 2), but it was unfortunately too late for them to hope for better.
Another important meeting, the match between Bourg-en-Bresse and Sporting Club de Lyon (0-1). The latter began this year 2021 with a new coach, who is already proving his worth. Indeed, while until now the Lyon club had only experienced one victory, things are starting to change. It was thanks to a goal in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot that Ivann Botella made the difference in favor of the red lantern. Despite the three points pocketed, the former Lyon-Duchère remains in the last position, but is getting closer to its competitors.
All try to get out of the red zone
For the moment, the four teams that risk relegation are SC Lyon, therefore, Annecy, Boulogne and Bourg-en-Bresse. However, like the Lyonnais and the Burgiens, Boulogne and Annecy faced each other at the Stade de la Liberation, during this 17th day of National 1. In this shock of low table, it was the Haut-Savoyards who left with the three points. Again thanks to a single goal, scored at the very end of the match, in the 81st minute, by striker Migouel Alfarela. A few minutes later, Annecy found itself at ten after the red card given to its midfielder Roger Tamba M’Pinda (88th), but Boulogne could not take advantage of it. Formerly relegated, Villefranche has given a little air by dominating the Stade Briochin (1-0), thanks to a realization of Arnold Garita (3rd). The North Lyon team now occupies 14th place and for the moment avoids the red zone, not thanks to the points, but thanks to the goal difference. Indeed, the latter and Bourg-en-Bresse currently have the same number of points, namely 19. Consequently, it is the goal difference that separates the two clubs, -4 against -6.
The results of the 17th day: Villefranche – Briochin Stadium: 1-0; Bourg-en-Bresse – SC Lyon: 0-1; Bastia-Borgo – Red Star: 3-1; Sète – Avranches: 0-0; Concarneau – Orleans: 1-3; Boulogne – Annecy: 0-1; Le Mans – Cholet: 2-0; Laval – Créteil: 1-2; Bastia – Quevilly-Rouen: 2-1.
