Basses-Laurentides: the virus targets 20-29 year olds

It’s just one way to put it, COVID-19 and its Delta variant have regained some strength over the past two weeks. With the statistical data suggesting that the beast was all but defeated, at the start of the summer, signs of a fourth wave are firmly on the horizon.

According to figures published by the Public Health of the Laurentians, the incidence rate (number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants) has increased significantly for certain age groups, but more sharply among 20-29 year olds, and this for a second week in a row.

However, this rate went from 27.2 / 100,000 to 51.5 / 100,000 in the space of a week. By comparison, it went from 4 to 11 cases, in 0 to 4 year olds, and from 7.1 to 25.1 in 30 to 49 year olds. For those 50 and over, as for those aged 5 to 19, the situation is reported to remain stable.

MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville

The latest Public Health report for each of the cities in the region places Blainville at the top of the column of cases, in the MRC of Thérèse-De Blainville, with a cumulative of 2,228, as well as 13 active cases, as of Thursday August 12.

In Sainte-Thérèse, there were six active cases, for a total of 1,234, since the start of the pandemic. The picture is more or less similar in Boisbriand, while the five active cases recorded there bring the total to 1,197.

In the other towns of the MRC, the situation is as follows: Rosemère, 583 cases and 1 to 4 active cases; Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, 559 cases and 7 active cases; Bois-des-Filion, 491 cases and 1 to 4 active cases; Lorraine, 429 cases and 10 active cases.

MRC of Deux-Montagnes

There have been 20 active cases of the virus, between August 5 and 12, in Saint-Eustache, where 1,939 people have been affected by the disease, so far.

During the same period, Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac recorded 9 active cases, for a total of 673, while in Deux-Montagnes, there is an approximate number of 1 to 4 active cases, for a cumulative of 563 .

In the other towns of the MRC, the table is as follows: Pointe-Calumet, 193 cases and 1 to 4 active cases; Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, 189 cases and no active cases; Oka, 128 cases and 6 active cases; Kanesatake, 36 cases and 1 active case. Saint-Placide, 28 cases and no active cases.

Mirabel

In Mirabel, which is both a city and an MRC, there are 17 active cases, for a total of 2,054 people affected since the start of this health crisis.

Healings, vaccines, deaths …

The Laurentians have recorded 510 deaths attributable to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic (none in the last seven days). The number of cases has reached a cumulative 21,421, while there are 180 active cases.

It is also reported that 20,731 people who had contracted the virus are now cured. Finally, a total of 831,614 doses of vaccines have been administered so far in the Laurentians.
