Basque government allocates €100,000 in UPV/EHU deal for gambling research projects

The Basque Government Council approved, at its meeting on Tuesday, the extension of the collaboration agreement between the Basque government and the UPV/EHU, signed in October 2020, to continue developing gambling research projects through the Basque Gambling Observatory, with a budget of 100,000 euros.

The Basque Government Council approved, at its meeting on Tuesday, the extension of the collaboration agreement between the Basque government and the UPV/EHU, signed in October 2020, to continue developing gambling research projects through the Basque Gambling Observatory, with a budget of 100,000 euros.

The objective of this body is the study and permanent analysis of gambling in the Basque Country, thus providing a global vision of the sector for the development of public policies that help promote responsible gambling, as reported by the ‘Basque executive.

Through periodic surveys, economic and social studies, supervised by the Directorate of Gaming and Entertainment of the Department of Security, the Observatory produces, from 2020, the works Business Economic Overview 2020, Prevalence, habits and profiles of gamblers in the Countries Basques. 2020, Report “Juego y Juventud 2021”, the conference on responsible gaming “Juego y Juventud” and Main economic indicators of the gaming sector 2021.

As the Basque government has highlighted, this extension is the result of the “positive” result of the collaboration between the two entities and, therefore, the Department of Security will allocate in the year 2023 the amount of 100,000 euros for the execution of the actions envisaged by the ‘Observatory at that time.
