The Sports Camp program, organized by the international association Church Sports and Recreation Ministries (CSRM), has revived players in the world of basketball. They are particularly satisfied after meeting the expert Michael Mai.
The training provided by expert Michael Mai marked the end of the sports camp programme, an initiative of the CSRM association aimed at linking sport and faith. Hundreds of coaches and players have benefited from the teachings of this expert over two days, Mondays and Tuesdays, at Saint-Michel Amparibe. Michael Mai shares his experiences and meets the expectations of hundreds of trainees, mainly coaches. Indeed, the Malagasy coaches are interested in the techniques of defense and attack, as well as the management of the various unexpected situations on the ground. Question and answer sessions were also organised.
With more than 20 years of involvement in the world of basketball, first as a player and then as a coach, Michael Mai is considered a “machine for producing” professional players. During this period, he also shared how God used him to preach through basketball. “God acted in different ways. For my part, he called me to become a basketball coach. I give him glory through this mission. In this training, the main thing is to teach the right attitudes that each player must have on and off the field. A real basketball player is someone who plays with dignity for his club, but also for his Creator,” underlines Michael Mai.
Before Michael Mai’s arrival, five Dutch coaches shared their experience with the capital’s young basketball players for a week. ” This is just the beginning. Given the enthusiasm of basketball players from different clubs during these days, we plan to make this sports camp an annual program and extend it to other disciplines.”said the national president of CSRM, Rasamoelina Andrianjaka.
