First shock for the JDA this season. On behalf of the third day of Pro A, Dijon moves to the Astroballe floor to meet ASVEL (5 p.m.). A little less than four months after the final lost to the club of Tony Parker, the Dijonnais will try to create the feat.
Very few teams are able to beat ASVEL currently. The JDA, yes. But even for the Bourguignon club, the pace is still high. At 5 p.m., near the Astroballe de Villeurbanne, the JDA will have to be at its best to try to defeat the Rhone giant. Especially since the Dijonnais are not really up to speed at the moment. Although the Burgundians won against Paris on the first day (94-78), they only played one championship match… This one. The second game played was a European parenthesis, and an unfortunate defeat on the floor of Lavrio (65-63). For its part, ASVEL has a little more minutes in the legs. Two championship wins in as many matches (83-81 against Gravelines-Dunkerque and 69-94 against Le Portel), and two victories out of two possible in EuroLeague (88-76 against Zalgiris Kaunas and 67-71 this Friday evening on the floor of the Alba Berlin). So tomorrow, Dijon may lack a little bit of rhythm while Villeurbanne will no doubt have slightly heavy legs. In 2021, the two teams won two of the four head-to-head each. This fifth shock of the year therefore promises all its promises.
The baptism of Markovic
The Bosnian Nenad Markovic will experience his first shock at the head of Dijon. Arrived at the start of the season to replace Laurent Legname who left for JL Bourg, the new JDA coach will already discover the very high level. Markovic’s mission is to continue to grow the club, and that means games like this Sunday. Getting behind Legname is not an easy thing, but the Bosnian coach knows France and his basketball well since he played at CSP Limoges for three seasons at the end of the 90s. And to help the new coach, the management of the JDA decided to take out the checkbook. Indeed, the club has recruited three new Americans for this season: Rashard Kelly, Sek Henry, and Gavin Ware. A new era for the Côte-d’Or club. See you this Sunday at the Astroballe (5 p.m.), to find out the true level of these two big French basketball players.
