The NBA said Monday that of the 322 players tested in the Orlando bubble, where the season is due to resume on July 30, only two positive cases had been noted. The two affected players were immediately isolated.

In Florida, the Coronavirus seems to have started afresh, with another 12,624 cases of Covid-19 referenced on Monday (against 15,299 for Sunday alone). However, just like the irreducible Gauls facing the Roman invader in Asterix, the Orlando bubble is resisting this upsurge in the virus. Thus, the NBA said on Monday that only two positive cases had been identified within this Walt Disney World complex where the 22 teams of the League concerned by the resumption of the season on July 30 had gradually taken up their quarters between Tuesday and last Thursday. Still, if only two players tested positive in the bubble, the NBA had not looked at the number of tests, with 322 performed in total since Tuesday. All the players had thus been tested for Covid-19 upon their arrival on site. Better: all the players were then ordered not to leave their room during the first 48 hours spent in the bubble, the organization having provided them with meal trays to avoid any temptation to go outside to eat. .

Double quarantine ration for Caboclo and Holmes

Once this deadline has passed, these same players had to undergo a second test, imperative to be able to circulate in the hotel for the first time and to begin the training sessions afterwards. The NBA has also specified that the two players who tested positive for the coronavirus had not yet left their room since their arrival in the bubble when they were invited as required by the sanitary procedure to leave the premises to isolate themselves without risking contaminating their colleagues. With the same idea, Bruno Caboclo (Houston) and Richaun Holmes, the only two to break the rules by leaving the NBA reserved area were immediately given a new period of quarantine in their room. Note that in recent hours, 19 players preparing to join the Orlando bubble have also undergone a test. Among them: Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook, tested positive and quarantined in the process. Two weeks before the recovery, the NBA does not intend to take the virus lightly.
