The Celtics rallied from their loss to the Thunder, made short work of the Mavericks off a struggling Luka Doncic. 124-95 without ever being scared, a reassuring victory to recover from the beating received in the previous match.
The 5 owners:
Dallas Maverick : Luka Doncic, Spencer Dinwiddie, Tim Hardaway Jr, Reggie Bullock, Christian Wood
Boston Celtics : Marcus Smart, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford
The Jay Brothers are struggling in their match, but the Cs don’t care. Smart White and Horford come out of their area and, above all, Joe Mazzulla’s defensive scheme to counter Luka Doncic is perfect. 20-29 at the end of 1is quarter time.
Doncic can’t be “magical” and no one next to him is able to score. Boston’s backups, especially Brogdon, are just as good as the starters. They gradually increase the gap and Boston is ahead of the counterattack, 46-64.
The Mavs lower their heads as soon as they return from the locker room, they are crushed by Tatum and company. Dinwiddie wants to play the riot, but no way, the Celtics are too strong. End 3And quarter time, and little suspense, 63-89.
The Celtics have fun in the 4And fourth time, Joe Mazzulla preserves Jaylen Brown, but leaves Jayson Tatum on the ground, since he is a few steps away from the triple double. With two minutes to go, everyone leaves, it’s garbage time. Doncic won’t hit the floor in the fourth half, and the Mavs lose vastly to the former from the East. Final Score: 95-124.
It’s not the crisis in Boston, it’s the message sent to the whole league by Joe Mazzulla and his men. Another MVP candidate masterfully contained by the Greens’ defense, after Durant and Antetokounmpo, was Doncic who was unable to do anything (7/23 shooting of which 0/6 from distance and 4 bullets missed). Only Jokic managed to break through to this team. The beautiful picture of the night is 2And Tatum’s career triple-double against a regular, the height!
Game Players: Jayson Tatum (29 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 blocks), Jaylen Brown (19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks), Mark Smart (15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 passes), Malcolm Brogdon (15 points, 4 passes, 4/8 auto tir).
