A native of the capital of the Grand Est region, Matt Pokora (38 years old) had expressed in recent weeks his desire to actively participate in the development of the club, champion of France in 2005 and five times finalist between 2013 and 2017. He had notably attended the first match at Rhenus Sport of the Betclic Elite season against Nanterre on September 17 (Strasbourg victory 71-57).
To gain access to this capital and become the second shareholder of the club, he invested 300,000 euros. “It is a desire on my part to invest myself in the club of my city. To invest myself financially and personally in the life of the club as well as in the artistic direction for the fan experience at Rhenus” (the room where plays the team), he further explained during a press conference.
A liability with GIS
Congratulated by the president of SIG & Entreprises, Christophe Schalk, Matthieu Tota, his real name, will also bring his artistic side to bear. “He joins us and becomes one of the important shareholders of the club today and, beyond the fact that he is investing, he will also invest alongside us to take charge of an important part of the show and the merchandising”, continued Mr. Schalk.

But the 38-year-old singer, author of the hit “She controls me”, recalled that his history with the SIG did not date from yesterday. “Before I moved to Paris, 20 years ago, I came with my dad to see matches here, at the time of the Pietrus brothers in Pau,” he said. “It was a desire on my part, especially after discussions this summer with my friend Tony Parker, to invest myself in the club of my city. A financial investment, yes, but above all to invest myself personally in the life of the club , on a position in artistic direction, with my artistic eye on the whole experience that we can offer to Rhenus spectators.”

Engaged in the Champions League (BCL), with a trip to Karsiyaka Izmir (Turkey) on Tuesday, the SIG is currently ninth (six wins-seven losses) after thirteen days of Betclic Elite. They placed eighth and quarter-finalists in 2022-2023 and also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last spring for the third season in a row.
