The Berliners needed some warm-up time against the Giessen zone defense, but were defensively compact themselves, came up with a few quick attacks and were 23:14 ahead at the quarter-break. At half-time, the guests extended their lead to 45:26, with an 11:0 start in the second half, the Berliners lived up to their role as favorites there as well.

Alba has everything in her own hands

With their 15th win of the season, Berlin made up a place in the table and pushed the Niners Chemnitz from fifth place, but they still have a few games to catch up. Alba still has the fewest loss points in the BBL with a point ratio of 30:10.

Chemnitz had to admit defeat to the Baskets Oldenburg away with 87:92 (38:47). In the final seconds, the Oldenburg team perfected their seventh win of the season on the free-throw line.

Central German BC scored important points

In a duel between two relegation candidates, the Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels won 81:75 (35:46) against the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt. Jamel Morris became the Weißenfels match winner with six points in the final minute. After the eighth win of the season, MBC remains 14th, Frankfurt is still penultimate.

Bonn confirms Bayern’s success in Hamburg

Four days after Victory against Bayern Munich (96:61) the Baskets Bonn celebrated their next success on Saturday. Coach Tuomas Iisalo’s team won the Hamburg Towers with 85:73 (43:33) and secured second place in the table. Bonn has 34:16 points, Bayern 36:12.

In the third win in a row, Parker Jackson-Cartwright (22 points) was Bonn’s top scorer. For ninth-placed Hamburg (24:22), the defeat was a setback in the fight for a play-off spot.

Bayreuth loses with a mini squad

Bayreuth fought bravely with the last squad on the 25th matchday and even worked overtime – which was not rewarded. Coach Raoul Korner only had six players available at BG Göttingen due to injuries and corona infections. The guests lost dramatically 91:92 (81:81, 43:49) after extra time.

“Ultimately we were missing maybe an inch or two for a huge sensation,” said Korner: “I feel sorry for my lads who toiled for 45 minutes and are now back empty-handed.”

Bayreuth, which lost on Wednesday with eight pros against bottom-placed Giessen 46ers (89:95), started in Lower Saxony without a trained center and power forward. The Franks always stayed tuned. With the siren at the end of regular time, Sacar Anim equalized for Bayreuth to 81:81 and forced an additional five minutes. A second was still on the clock when Kamar Baldwin threw the Goettingen team to victory.

Victories for Würzburg and Heidelberg in the table cellar

Würzburg (91:74 against Crailsheim) and Heidelberg (81:78 against Braunschweig) celebrated important victories in the table cellar. Ludwigsburg beat Brose Bamberg 95:76 and stays on top.
