Basketball 3×3. Poland advanced to the quarter-finals of the European Championship

It was the second match of Poles in the group stage of the European Championship, played after the Olympic Games in Tokyo that were unsuccessful for the Polish team. Polish 3×3 basketball players were to fight for the Olympic medal there, and they did not even leave the group. The European Championships in Paris are to be a rematch for that failed tournament.

In the first game, Poland defeated Estonia 20:18, so her second group win 21-14 over Slovenia meant that she was promoted further. The match with the Slovenes was postponed due to the coronavirus at rivals. The results of tests with Slovenian basketball players were unclear, some of the team were not allowed to play. Slovenia put up only three players against Poland, which had a huge impact on her game and result.

The loss to Poland along with the defeat to Estonia 17-19 means that Slovenia was eliminated from the championship. The Poles have advanced and will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.

The meeting with Slovenia on the pitch located near the Eiffel Tower did not cause any problems for the charges of coach Piotr Renkiel. They were leading from start to finish: 4-0, 7: 2, 13: 5 after five minutes. The best scorer of the game, Przemysław Zamojski (12 points, 4/6 for two), had an excellent fragment, scoring 10 consecutive team points from 7: 3 to 17: 8.

The result was determined by three consecutive actions Łukasz Diduszko, who made his debut in the championship event (6 points throughout the match), who replaced the Tokyo Olympian, 38-year-old Michael Hicks. Paweł Pawłowski – 2 and Szymon Rduch – 1 also scored points.
