A great initiative of ABCreusot with Germain Castano, the native of the country, today considered among the best basketball coaches in France.
In these lean times for sport where the covid seems to have driven the point a little with its negative impact on the licensees of all team sports, basketball is no exception to the rule. The committees, leagues and federations do not seem to have been very inventive in trying to keep the active forces of the clubs mobilized so that the exit from covid that we all hope to be almost definitive at the start of September is not too painful, unfortunately noting a decrease an almost general workforce of 20% in all territories.
In this sense, AB Creusot has shown itself to be active and very enterprising during this uncertain, even chaotic period. By offering all young people well beyond their own licensees: a service of various activities around the orange ball … where training, matches (outdoors), games and individual development have been the common thread, the leaders of Creusotin basketball have affirmed their desire to bring their passion to life and share; which was concretized in apotheosis by the operation “Street Basket Challenge” which knew a real and frank success on the external grounds of the room Jean de Prat redrawn manually by the volunteers of the club for the occasion.
Under the leadership of its host Philippe Morin, the reflection of the leaders of the ABC to further develop basketball locally also led the technical team to make a proposal for the reactivation of a basketball stronghold which was in its time a cell. training and development for all the youth of Torcy; both on the technical level of the players and on the human level of relationships and people.
This is how Philippe Morin accompanied by his sports director Anibal Castano recently met the elected officials of the town of Torcy and together they agreed to put in place an action that all hope to be a cornerstone of this we can imagine: a new start or at least the beginning of a response to the demand of young Torcéens motivated by the practice of basketball … whatever its form.
To promote this operation, AB Creusot called on the local child: Germain Castano, elite Pro trainer who has just had a magnificent season with his team from Orléans and who began his career by surveying for hours and for hours, the various terrains and asphalt of the city with its youthful friends.
On this July 1st, Germain will therefore come first: to train the students of the CM1 and CM2 classes of the Champs Batard and Champs Cordet schools as well as the young people from the Maison des Familles at the end of the afternoon. This, in a playful format of discovery and initiation into the practice of basketball … just to pass on a little of its “Basketball DNA” … And what is more in the legendary hall of the old Vilet school … which was the theater unforgettable moments anchored in the collective memory of the inhabitants of Torcy… and where Germain took off to make basketball his profession… thirty years ago already!
Secondly, in the early evening, the C2 will welcome basketball enthusiasts from all walks of life: alumni, young people, elected officials, partners, players, coaches, managers of other clubs, entrepreneurs, media, press, volunteers and all interested persons. by the project. This gathering “like no other” will take place within the framework of a colorful evening where memories and sharing of ideas but also and above all productive of exchanges which will allow (we hope) to assess and draw the conditions. of a possible restart of basketball in Torcy. Germain Castano will bring his insights and advice from a long experience of a generation of time crisscrossing French basketball…. This will add to the participation of all. History, video clips, anecdotes, testimonies, round tables, debate … an evening which by its nature, originality and format promises to be original, different and we hope: a trigger and promising element of what could constitute the continuation … and who knows: September 2021!
We can bet that the network will work to convince all those who identify with this great project… to switch to the C2 de Torcy and bring a positive wave to move things forward. The meeting of all present will be the link that will perhaps mark tomorrow: the rebirth of Torcean basketball.
