Great confusion still in Basilicata within the wide field. After the renunciation of Domenico Lacerenzathe ophthalmologist wanted by M5S and Pd to try to keep the progressive coalition together, there is still no unity around a unifying name. Angelo Chiorazzofounder of the civic-Catholic movement Basilicata Casa Comune, broke through the hesitation and proposed himself, thanks to the support of a good portion of Dem representatives – including the former governor Filippo Bubbico – and numerous administrators and club secretaries .
But it is a choice that does not take into account the veto placed on him by the 5 Star Movement: only yesterday, in Naples, Giuseppe Conte, had motivated the opposition with the need to “prevent any conflicts of interest”, since Chiorazzo founded Auxilium, a non-profit cooperative now managed by his brother, who also has a contract with the Region. And the Democratic Party, at the instigation of the national secretariat, insists on the axis with the Five Star Movement, within which, however, the desire to go it alone is growing, supporting for example an early grillina like the researcher Alessia Araneo. This morning the Democratic Party and the other centre-left partners met and proposed yet another candidate who could perhaps keep the coalition together, the president of the Province of Matera Piero Marrese.
With him there would be the Democratic Party – net of the dissidents who are already with Chiorazzo – the 5 Stars and the Green Left Alliance, within which, however, the position of the ecologist councilor of the Municipality of Matera Giuseppe Digilio stands out, who has publicly expressed himself in favor of the non-profit entrepreneur. In the middle is the position of Action, which will meet this afternoon to define what to do.
This morning in Potenza the national leader Carlo Calenda, while returning to deprecate the Schlein-Conte line – “a shameful spectacle” – and while denouncing the difficulties in contact with Schlein – “he doesn’t answer my phone” – he left virtually all avenues open. You once again expressed appreciation for the President of the Region Vito Bardi, of Forza Italia, who you defined as “a good person, cultured, liberal and pro-European”.
However, he also said that he wanted to try until the end, “out of responsibility”, to reach an agreement with the other opposition partners to the national and regional government. And Chiorazzo, to whom his local contact, the former governor Marcello Pittella, had launched credit openings after months of hostility, showed availability but added: “He is waiting for the support of the Democratic Party which, instead, has another candidate”. The green Digilio makes an appeal to the national leader: “I appeal to his sensitivity to let go of resentments and believe in a definitive and unitary project. If they lifted the veto on Chiorazzo, we could imagine a path together, involving the secular world Catholic of Chiorazzo to aspire to a good result and look responsibly at Basilicata, attacked in recent years by the policies of the centre-right, which have led to very low points in healthcare, production activities and environmental protection”.
