In this context, the same source revealed that Basil decided to broaden the range of his contacts with an unconditional opening towards his opponents, which occurred immediately after the communication between him and Hezbollah broke down, and did not move for him first by changing his political speech, which culminated in attacking them, until after If his relationship with the “party” suffers a setback, he can only overcome it through his initiative to contact his ally. He stressed that Basil did not hesitate to respond to a mutual friend’s request, accepting his invitation to have lunch at his table with Mikati, and later to meet Franjieh.

Furthermore, the Maronite patriarch Beshara Al-Rai affirmed during the Christmas mass in Bkerke that “pride prevents politicians from meeting and talking to get out of the crisis of the election of the president, while the moans of the hungry and oppressed people do not reach the ears of their hearts and of their consciences”, asking: “Where are they from the face of mercy?” Who was revealed to us at Christmas?”

Al-Rahi added: “Let them stop obstructing the election of a president so that normal life can return to constitutional institutions, and the country can emerge from its deadly economic and financial crises, and the people from their poverty, deprivation and oppression.”
