Basic Education Federation Challenges Minister of Education and Plans to Sue

The general federation of basic education has decided to continue with the retention of marks and not to participate in class councils as well as to sue the Ministry of Education, in reaction to the dismissal of a number of directors of schools and teacher wage garnishment.

In a press release made public at the end of the meeting of its administrative commission, the federation strongly denounced the “threat” policy adopted by the supervisory authority, recalling the dismissal of 350 school principals and the suspension of the salary of thousands of teachers, representing, according to the same source, an unprecedented form of general sanction which reveals a failure to circumscribe the crisis.

The federation called on the ministry to reconsider its decision concerning the dismissal of school principals and the suspension of teachers’ salaries and to start a serious dialogue to regularize the various problems and overcome the obstacles.

The federation has decided to organize national and regional marches and a day of national anger in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and in the Kasbah square. According to the same source, the federation is examining the general development of the situation in order to take the necessary measures, including the possibility of boycotting the next school year.
