Four residents were evacuated from their apartments on Thursday evening after a cellar fire in Elisabethstrasse using a turntable. “The smoke had already penetrated the apartments,” says operations manager Stefan Jakolitsch. Four other occupants of the house were brought into the open with special escape hoods via the stairwell, one family had already saved themselves when the police arrived. 16 men from the professional fire brigade and 14 men from the Salzburg volunteer fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control. One person was brought to the LKH by the Red Cross with smoke poisoning. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified.
