Parral, Mexico – In a proactive move to safeguard its citizens against prevalent winter illnesses, the municipality of Parral, under the direction of the Ministry of Health, inaugurated a new vaccination point at the Public Security booth located in the Plaza de Armas, directly in front of the San José Parish, on March 1, 2025.This initiative is part of an accelerated vaccination and immunization campaign designed to protect high-risk groups. The vaccinations are being offered free of charge to eligible individuals, ensuring accessibility for all residents.

The establishment of this new vaccination site aims to broaden the reach of the preventive campaign, ensuring that more individuals have access to crucial immunizations. The Public Security booth offers a central and easily accessible location for residents to receive their vaccinations quickly and efficiently. This strategic placement leverages existing infrastructure to maximize convenience and participation.

Beyond the new booth, vaccinations continue to be administered at various health centers throughout urban Parral. For residents in rural areas, the Center for Primary Health Care of the cars remains a permanent vaccination site, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the municipality. This multi-pronged approach ensures that all residents, regardless of their location, have access to vital immunizations.

Leslie Flores,the nurse in charge of the vaccination process at the Department of Municipal Health,emphasized the importance of community awareness and participation. Immunization is key to preventing diseases and protecting the health of the entire population, Flores stated,urging residents to seek facts about vaccination and visit the designated establishments to receive their corresponding doses. This call to action highlights the critical role of public education in promoting widespread vaccination.

The accelerated campaign specifically targets high-risk groups to provide protection before the onset of winter,a season known for increased respiratory virus activity,including influenza and COVID-19. Along with standard vaccinations, the campaign includes the management of Nersevimab medication for children under six months old and the void 23 vaccine for individuals aged 65 and older. This comprehensive approach addresses the specific needs of vulnerable populations.

The Public Security booth offers convenient operating hours for vaccinations. We started in the public security booth to be vaccinated from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m., from Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the nurse in charge commented. She further clarified the requirements for vaccination: They can do it at any time, they do not need fasting, what is necessary is to carry the identity card and if possible, the control to register the vaccine, because it will be reviewed in the general system. It was also emphasized that access to the vaccinations is not restricted based on insurance status, as the service is available to all, irrespective of whether they have Fonasa or Isapre.

Dr. Ramirez,a public health expert,commented on Parral’s innovative approach: “The choice of a public security booth in Parral’s Plaza de Armas is indeed unconventional. However, it speaks volumes about the municipality’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement in their vaccination strategy.
