Losinger Marazzi is building an eight-story building with 100 apartments and office space for SBB Immobilien.

With the “Volta Nord” development, the existing St. Johann residential area in Basel is being expanded to the north. 2,000 to 2,500 jobs, living space for 1,500 to 2,000 people as well as new green and natural areas are being created in phases on the formerly commercially used area. The next milestone has been reached: the canton, cooperatives and SBB as well as the architectural offices and executing companies involved, including Losinger Marazzi, have jointly laid the foundation stone for construction site 2. Losinger Marazzi signed the TU work contract with SBB Immobilien, which owns construction sites 1 and 2, for the new construction of the Volta Nord residential and commercial building – (construction area 2.1) – in June 2024.
On the approximately 19,000 square meter construction site 2, the SBB is working with cooperatives to build several mixed-use buildings. These accommodate offices, restaurants, services and family-related offers, with the focus on living. As a total company, Losinger Marazzi will build an angular 8-story residential and commercial building with 100 apartments of different sizes on sub-plot 2.1. There are offices on the first floor and restaurants and sales rooms on the ground floor facing the street. The execution work started at the end of September, and the first occupancy of the apartments is scheduled for summer 2026. Losinger Marazzi signed the TU work contract with SBB Immobilien in June 2024. The construction work is being carried out as a joint venture together with the company Frutiger AG Basel. (aw)
