The title of the work already speaks volumes: “An eye exercise for the joy of the house”. Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger’s art often brings joy without the two losing sight of socially relevant topics, according to a message from the museum. “Our being in the here and now, our relationship to nature or our respect for nature, which is able to surprise us again and again with its beauty and its specialty. But for them it is also about the question of how disrespectful and irresponsible we sometimes deal with nature instead of understanding ourselves as a part of it, ”writes the museum.
In their home and work place in Langenbruck, around two dozen chickens of various species jump through the facility. Big and small, familiar and new, can grow and flourish in the greenhouses. “You can’t get close to nature, you are,” Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger emphasized in an interview some time ago. “Nature is fully within you, in every pore, in every cell, in every bacteria, in every virus, there is no escape!”
