BASEBALL – Luis Castillo records his first win of the season for Cincinnati Reds

Joey Votto homered and tripled before yelling at Cubs reliever Rowan Wick during a tense ending to Wednesday’s game, a Cincinnati Reds 4-3 win over Chicago.

Votto hit a solo homer in the second off Kyle Hendricks (2-5) and a two-run triple in the third as Cincinnati snapped a two-game losing streak.

Wick brushed a pitch past the 16-year major league veteran for a walk in the eighth inning. Votto yelled at Wick as he was running to first and made words with the Chicago dugout.

In the next inning Reds reliever Hunter Strickland hit Patrick Wisdom. Cubs manager David Ross was ejected by home plate umpire Dan Merzel because he left the dugout to protest.

Wisdom scored on a pinch hit single by Nico Hoerner.

Luis Castillo (1-2) needed 32 pitches to finish a two-run first inning with Cincinnati, but allowed only two hits in his last four innings. He gave away a walk and prescribed six strikeouts, his highest number of the season.

For the Cubs, Dominican Christopher Morel 4-1 with a run scored. Venezuelans Rafael Ortega 4-0 and Wilson Contreras 1-0.

For the Reds, the Dominican Arístides Aquino 3-0.
