Basarnas Deploys Members to Look for a Cattle Breeder in the Galung Tuka Enrekang River

FAJAR.CO.ID, ENREKANG — The fate of a cattle farmer named Suhardi (40) is unfortunate. He was reportedly swept away in the Galung Tungka Enrekang River.

According to information received by dawn.co.id, the middle-aged man was carried away by the river current on Wednesday (8/11/2023) afternoon.

Head of the Makassar Basarnas Office, Mexianus Bekabel, said that his party received the report from the victim’s relatives.

“From eyewitness reports, Milda (the victim’s sister) stated that the man wanted to cross his cattle across the river,” said Mexianus, Wednesday (8/11/2023) evening.

There, said Mexianus, the victim was swept away by the river current and has not yet been found.

Receiving this report, Basarnas Makassar immediately responded by deploying personnel at the Sar Parepare Alert Unit.

“We received reports that residents in Enrekang Regency were swept away by the river current,” he continued.

“After being declared A1, we immediately deployed personnel to the Parepare Sar Alert Unit which is closest to the location,” Mexianus said.

He added that his team went straight to the scene and would coordinate with the family and authorities.

“A temporary team is heading to the location, and tonight will coordinate with the family and local authorities as well as existing search potential to determine the extent of the search area that will be carried out,” he explained.

Mexianus revealed that his party is still continuing to search for the victim.
