Alsatian sports journalists have just published their traditional list of the best sportsmen (alsatians still) for the year 2022. Individually, it is the French giant slalom champion, from Duppigheim, Thibaut Favrot who obtained the most votes (239 points). He thus succeeds the fencer Charlotte Lembach.
It has become a tradition of the end of the year celebrations in the same way or almost as New Year’s Eve: the prize list of the best Alsatian sportsmen. Organized by the‘UJSF Alsace (Union of sports journalists in France), it submits to the votes of Alsatian sports journalists those who have particularly distinguished themselves in the past year. And in this little game there, for 2022, it was the Lower Rhine skier Thibaut Favrot who won the most votes (239 points). He succeeds the Strasbourg fencer Charlotte Lembach.

Thibaut Favrot, 28, from Duppigheim, wins 239 points. It must be said that the skier had a brilliant sports season like gold.
On March 26 at Isola 2000 he was crowned French giant slalom champion for the first time, ahead of Alexis Pinturault and Mathieu Faivre (the reigning world champion). The next day in Auron, he took the title of French parallel slalom champion, ahead of Léo Ducros.

And besides, it is Julien Stéphan, coach of the RCSA who was elected best coach of the year 2022.
Another important distinction: that of ambassador of Alsatian sport. Finally a woman and not the least. For the 3rd consecutive year, it is the handball player and goalkeeper, from Wittenheim (68), Cleopatra Darleux, nicknamed “the wall of China” which obtained the most votes (59). She currently plays for the Brest Bretagne Handball club.
Elected best goalkeeper in the French Championship twice (2012 and 2018), she notably has twelve national titles (triple champion of France, triple winner of the League Cup, triple winner of the Coupe de France with Metz and Brest as well as Danish champion and double Danish Cup winner with Viborg) and a European Cup (Cup Winners’ Cup with Viborg).
Cléopâtre Darleux is world champion in 2017, vice-champion of Europe in 2020, Olympic champion in 2021 and vice-world champion in 2009, 2011 and 2021. This year, she is named best goalkeeper of the Euro.

To finish this list, the disabled athlete of the year 2022 is Jules Ribstein. For the second consecutive year. After losing his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2008, the Alsatian set himself a challenge: the triathlon. At 36, here he is, triple world champion in the paratriathlon category PTS2. He won his last title last November during the world championships in Abu Dhabi.
Now he is aiming for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
