Bartosz Kustra – career
Bartosz Kustra has been associated with Polish Radio PiK since 2001. He was a commentator, and his voice could be heard mainly during the speedway Grand Prix or the Polish championships in this discipline, when he reported the meetings of teams from Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Grudziądz. For his activities in 2019, he received the award of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship for “outstanding sports activities and promotion of the region”.
Unfortunately, his career was brutally interrupted. It was last heard on air in 2020. It was then that he learned the doctor’s diagnosis – brain cancer. He underwent partial resection because full resection could result in blindness. He was bedridden since January 2021. Colleagues and fans started collecting money for rehabilitation. Unfortunately, on Friday, October 4, Radio reported the sad news about the death of its employee.

“After a long and serious illness, Bartosz Kustra, a journalist of Polish Radio PiK, our friend and colleague, died,” wrote a statement from Polish Radio PiK. “He was a reporter and sports journalist who devoted his life to radio. Sport was his passion… Goodbye, Bartek…” added.
Speedway clubs also reacted to the tragic news on social media. “After a long and serious illness, Bartosz Kustra passed away. A journalist and commentator on Polish Radio PiK, who for many years covered GKM Grudziądz SA matches and visited the stadium at Hallera, or traveled to cover away matches of our team. His radio reports in “Music and Sport” remains in the memory of many fans to this day. He died at the age of 42.
