Bart De Wever (N-VA): “It seems to me a no-brainer that you are not advocating relaxation at Christmas”

There is also a substantive reason for the attitude of the Antwerp mayor. “As mayor of a large city, I am also head of a crisis cell and I am forced to look at that curve twice a week.” De Wever points out that the projection of that curve is “not that great”.

“Christmas means that people are moving and that you are going to mix generations and bubbles. That’s wrong three times. So I won’t hear you calling for easing.” In his own words, De Wever wants to support every evident and scientifically substantiated measure. “It seems like a no-brainer that you are not going to argue for relaxation at Christmas.”

That he does not make himself popular, says the Antwerp mayor also realize. “I have to endure it in my own family and in-laws, but I’m not going to do it.”
