The criminal court of Mechelen will hold the opening session on Thursday, January 14, 2021 the case against television maker Bart De Pauw. That day a conclusion calendar is set and it becomes clear when the file will be pleaded in court.
The TV maker and presenter announced in early November 2017 that the VRT had stopped working with him after complaints about transgressive behavior by various women with whom he had worked.
De Pauw has since maintained that he did nothing punishable and has himself filed for a trial. ‘For the first time I will be able to give context to all these allegations. I will take my responsibility if it turns out that I have gone wrong somewhere, but I will defend myself to the utmost where there has been a lie or where I have been wrongly portrayed, ‘he said.
If he is found guilty, De Pauw risks a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
