Bars, restaurants, hairdressers, artisans: Rome is speeding up deconfinement a bit and reopening almost everything on Monday

The mayor of Rome has decided to speed up deconfinement a little and allow the opening from next Monday of certain stores, such as hairdressers or beauty centers, initially scheduled for June 1.

“The new ordinance signed by the mayor Virginia Raggi will be in force from May 18 to June 21, 2020 and it establishes the opening hours of the commercial, artisanal and productive activities”, explains a press release from the city hall of Rome.

The Municipality of Rome has set up a system establishing three groups of activities and staggered opening and closing times in order to avoid, if possible, the presence of many people at the same time.

The first group brings together food, the second craftsmen and the third, and it is a novelty, hairdressers and beauty centers, in addition to stores of non-food products such as shoes or clothing.

The beauty centers and hairdressers should have reopened from June 1, according to a program planned by the government several weeks ago, at the same time as the bars and restaurants.

However, the government has decided to give local authorities additional flexibility, which in some cases has made it possible to speed up the opening of shops.

According to the press, even bars and restaurants should reopen from May 18, except perhaps in Lombardy and Piedmont (north), the two regions most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic which caused more 31,000 dead in the country.
