Bars and restaurants will have to pay to extend their terrace in Strasbourg this summer | News

It is a new hard blow that the café owners and restaurateurs of Strasbourg will suffer. After the hypothesis of a closure of the terraces in the morning, the city of Strasbourg has just announced that professionals will have to pay again to enlarge their terrace this summer. In 2020 and 2021, the town hall had exceptionally skipped this rule as a form of support with the Covid. But this year, the return to normal is likely to cringe.

« A quick gauge, a safe distance between the tables, we had to adapt well and support the profession, detailed Pierre Ozenne, deputy mayor of Strasbourg. We therefore did not charge for the extension of the terraces last summer. But the city ain’t stretchable and it’s time to get back to normal in every way ».

In fact, the owners of cafes and restaurants in the hyper-city center will have to pay 69.60 euros per m2 of terrace and per year at the town hall, 48 euros for the city center and 36 euros for establishments in zone C.
