In France, they were formerly called “emissions pour ménagères”. After the “morning shows”, morning shows on the major American networks, there are shows in the United States that don’t really have a name, but which are somewhat on the same format.
That of CBS is called Drew, as the name of Drew Barrymore, actress, director, producer who has been a part of American life for 40 years, since E.T. up to Charlie and his Charlie’s Angels, Passing by Scream. That of ABC, Live with Kelly and Ryan – most watched – features Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa.
The program has existed since 1975 and has changed its name several times depending on the presenters! The common point of these televised appointments: talk about oneself, but by evoking themes that can speak to everyone.
Other programs exist in the same style: a very famous and very influential one, for example, called The View on ABC – and was discussed in a previous episode. A women’s team talks about current affairs with, in particular, Whoopi Goldberg, actress famous for her roles in Ghost and The color purple.
