2022 is already shaping up to be a key year for the Barrière group: the operator of casinos and hotels , controlled by the Barrière-Desseigne family, will open its first Le Fouquet’s hotel abroad next summer. The Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet’s New York, a 5-star hotel under construction in Tribeca, a district of Manhattan that has become a trendy residential area, will offer 96 rooms and suites, a swimming pool and a Fouquet’s brasserie whose menu will be – as for all Fouquet’s restaurants -, developed by Pierre Gagnaire.
Management contract
The creation of a movie theater that can accommodate more than 100 people is also mentioned by its owner, Caspi Development, a real estate company in the New York area.
The establishment, which will be operated by the French group under a management contract, is an important step for the group. “Barrière is strengthening its international development, and contributing to the influence of France and the French art of living in the United States”, welcomes its CEO, Dominique Desseigne.
Initiated several years ago, the New York project will be the first Barrière Fouquet’s creation since the opening in November 2006 of the iconic 5-star Parisian , which had been built – not without difficulty – from the famous brasserie located on the Champs-Elysées. The Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet’s New York marks the relaunch of a long-standing ambition of Dominique Desseigne , to make Fouquet’s a hotel brand in the world.
The Barrière galaxy – two sister companies, Groupe Lucien Barrière and Société Fermière du Casino Municipal de Cannes, controlled by the family – today has 18 hotels ranging from 4 stars to luxury hotels. Among these, two 5 stars are located outside mainland: the Naoura opened in 2009 in Marrakech , and the Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf in Saint-Barth, which opened almost a year ago.
A Paradiso restaurant in Abu Dhabi
Barrier continues to push the fire in Abu Dhabi. After the opening in early 2020 of a Fouquet’s restaurant at the Louvre Museum in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, the French group is preparing to launch the Paradiso restaurant concept there, designed for its Le Majestic hotel in Cannes, in collaboration with Nicole Rubi and Pierre Gagnaire. As in Cannes, where the Paradiso opened in July 2020, the two chefs are signing the card of this new establishment which must be operational in November 2021.
