TRIBUNNEWS.COM, RUSSIA – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday (7/6/2022) said Russian troops controlled almost the entire Luhansk region and Donetsk.
Shoigu’s comments followed weeks of repeated attacks and the deployment of more Russian troops in the war in Ukraine.
As reported Associated PressDefense Minister Shoigu said his troops had now succeeded in liberating 97 percent of Luhansk territory.
Russia claims to take all of the Donbas completely, covers the territory Donetsk and Luhansk.
Both regions will be separated from Ukraine and have Moscow’s support.

Russia calls it the Republic Donetsk and Luhansk and declared independent.
But by Russia it is unfortunate because Ukrainian troops are still in the region.
It is unclear whether Russia would try to expand its offensive elsewhere in Ukraine if it took over the Donbas.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned Monday that if the West provided Ukraine with long-range rockets capable of reaching Russian territory, Moscow would respond by pressing its attack deeper into Ukraine.
At the start of the war, Russian troops also controlled all of Kherson and most of the Zaporizhzhia region to the south.
