The two-time champion Barra de Santiago closed another perfect weekend by beating Barra Ciega 7-2 and consolidating itself as the absolute leader in the men’s group A after the fourth day in the 2024 CEL Cup Beach Soccer League.
The Ahuachapanecos added four victories in the same number of games and reached 12 points in the league organized by the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES) with the support of its strategic allies.
It was an even game that the Barreños resolved in the second period with six goals in that stretch in which errors and genius set the tone.
A goal from Anderson Castro allowed the two-time champions to close the first episode with a 1-0 lead.
The Sonsonatecos had chances to score, but goalkeeper Erick Nájera drowned out the cry for a goal with two saves.
In the second period, Anderson Castro extended the advantage for the Ahuachapanecos with a bicycle kick that left the coconut goalkeeper without reaction. The 3-0 was scored by Frank Velásquez with a powerful left-footed shot in a great collective action in which Castro placed the ball just to hit him.
Velásquez returned the favor to the player with the number 21 by controlling a ball on the edge of the area and giving him a precise pass to make it 4-0.
It was a key goal that opened the game and forced Barra Ciega to look for stoppage time goals, but they paid dearly for each counterattack. The little hand came from Darwin Ramírez and the half dozen goals came through Rafael Arena in a powerful free kick.
The Sonsonateco team managed to score a goal with three minutes remaining in the second round with a great goal from Josué David Morán for 1-6.
Velásquez closed the victory in the sands of Garita Palmera with a right-footed shot from a small angle but the national team.
Barra Ciega’s effort was only enough for another goal, which Rudy Lara scored via penalty and in an action in which goalkeeper Nájera was sent off for taking the ball outside the area.
Garita Palmera beat San Salvador 5-1, reaching seven points and climbing to third place in the men’s group A.
The hosts had just won 4-3 on penalties against Barra Ciega on Saturday, but on Sunday they secured the three points without any major upsets against the bottom team.
The third victory for the Ahuachapanecos was written with a double by Marco Manzano, who scored the first with 1:26 minutes remaining in the first period.
Diego Moisés Salinas, José Martínez also contributed their goal and Carlos Puquir completed the goal in the last minutes of the third set.
The only score for the capital’s team was achieved by Gerson Hernández in the second roll.
In the third and final game of the day at the Garita Palmera arena, BS UES won 5-2 over Teotepeque to take second place in the group with eight points and relegate Garita Palmera to third place.
UES took a 2-1 lead until the second period with goals from Rogelio Rauda and Manuel Escobar, but the rival managed to get within striking distance of a tie with a goal from Daniel Ventura.
The victory began to be forged with the scores of Edwin Hernández and Luis Henríquez at the beginning of the third roll. Rubén Meléndez’s goal raised Teotepeque’s hopes of a reaction, but with two minutes left before the final whistle sealed the scarlet Rauda victory and the final 5-2.
