Barneys New York to Relaunch in Naples, Florida
Barneys New York is staging its retail comeback in a 10,000-square-foot space within the Bayfront marina development in Naples, Florida, rather than its historic Manhattan home. According to luxury industry veteran Richard Cohen, who leads the relaunch alongside partner Eric Appelblom through their firm One Luxury Solution, the store is slated to open before the end of 2026 under exclusive licensed rights granted by Authentic Brands Group.
A Strategic Shift to Florida’s Coast
The decision to bypass traditional luxury epicenters like New York or Los Angeles in favor of Southwest Florida marks a calculated demographic bet. Richard Cohen told WWD that he prefers to be a big fish in a small pond, viewing Florida as a southern extension of New York. Naples boasts a high concentration of affluent permanent residents and seasonal snowbirds who maintain longstanding familiarity with the Barneys brand. Authentic Brands Group executives Jamie Salter, executive chairman, and Jarrod Weber, global president of sports and lifestyle, awarded the exclusive Florida rights to Cohen and Appelblom’s One Luxury Solution to spearhead this regional expansion.
While industry watchers have speculated about restoring Barneys to its former flagship location on Madison Avenue at 61st Street in Manhattan, Cohen confirmed that the Madison Avenue site is not part of his current operational agenda. Sources indicate that Jamie Salter has engaged in discussions with the landlord of 660 Madison, Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., regarding potential lease terms, but no definitive operator has been secured to revive the Manhattan storefront.
Transforming the Bayfront Development
The new Naples outpost will occupy a 10,000-square-foot footprint at the Bayfront development, which is not traditionally classified as a luxury center. To establish a compatible retail ecosystem, Cohen and Appelblom have secured an agreement with landlord Kevin Stoneburner to curate and re-merchandise the surrounding property. Current tenants at Bayfront include B&B Italia SpA, Port Royal Jewelers, Lovejoy Antiques, Tavern on the Bay, and Kerico Mexican. Additional agreements have been finalized with men’s shoe brand Swims and Italian footwear company Pilotti, alongside planned high-end dining additions.
Curated Retail Layout and Signature Offerings
Despite its smaller scale compared to the historical multi-level Manhattan flagship, the Naples location will recreate several consumer-favorite elements. The retail blueprint features a 2,000-square-foot Freds restaurant and the iconic Chelsea Passage home goods area. Shoppers will also find the Barneys private label alongside fragrance, cosmetics, jewelry, children’s merchandise, ladies’ handbags, and shoes. Cohen noted that women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections will occupy a relatively modest portion of the floor plan due to the spatial constraints of the 10,000-square-foot venue.

Establishing a premier retail destination from the ground up involves rigorous logistics, supply chain coordination, and regulatory compliance.
As construction preparations advance ahead of the targeted late-2026 opening, the leadership team plans to host an exclusive pre-opening rollout to showcase selected brands. The resurrection of Barneys in Naples signals a notable shift in high-end retail strategy, proving that luxury capitals are no longer bound by traditional geography.
Securing high-profile retail spaces and managing upscale commercial portfolios demands meticulous administrative execution.
