Bargain hunter criticized after buying 32 thermal shirts for £16 and refusing to donate them because ‘charity begins at home’

ONE WOMAN who collected 32 thermal t-shirts for just £16 at B&M has defended her decision not to donate the items, because “charity starts at home”.

Katie Thomas took to Facebook to share a photo of her cart full of clothes as she gushed over their offer.

“B&M: thermal t-shirt two pack cost £8 scanning at £1,” he wrote in his post on the group B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and more on the social media site.

“No, I’m NOT donating them,” he continued.

“Before anyone starts… Charity starts at home and I have already given 5 bags of clothes to charity in the last week.

“He donated new children’s toys to a daycare.

“I’m not going to donate every bargain I find.”

In the comments section of her post, many people criticized Katie for refusing to donate the items.

“I mean there’s nothing wrong with a bargain, even sometimes buying said bargain in bulk, but when there’s rising fuel poverty in this country, homelessness at an all-time high, and war on the brink, I think that items like this, especially from possible essentials Don’t use silly body care sets, should be limited to 2/3 per customer,” one person wrote.

“Or better yet, instead of being scaled down to fuel our mass consumer lifestyle in the Western world, donated to those who would benefit most from it (and that’s up to the retailer, not the buyer) is just crazy, right?” who needs 30 thermal caps when there are people, children sleeping in metro stations in Ukraine under the frost.

“Typical profit over people, dog eat dog.”

Another person chimed in and wrote, “Who needs 30 thermal tops?”

However, others sided with Katie and insisted that they would have done the same thing by buying the skimpy tops if they had seen them.

“Why couldn’t you keep the bargains you find for your own family?” one person wrote.

“It gets very boring listening to people judge. I agree that charity starts at home, but I also contribute in my own way… well done.”

And someone else added: “Good for you… Sick and tired of people criticizing others when they find bargains! Enjoy your finds.”
