JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) coordinates the case Nurhayativillage treasurer in Cirebon, West Java, who became suspect after reporting the suspected case corruption local village head named Supriyadi.
The results of the case conducted at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on Friday (25/2/2022) morning until evening stated that the corruption case against Nurhayati would still be further coordinated with the public prosecutor (JPU).
“In the case of suspect N, investigators will re-coordinate to the Public Prosecutor to follow up on this case,” said Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, after holding the case to reporters, Friday night.
Meanwhile, the case file for the corruption suspect Supriyadi will continue.
“The case with the initials suspected as S, this case will continue,” he said.
The two corruption case files against Nurhayati and Supriyadi had previously been declared complete or P-21.
The case is in the spotlight because Nurhayati is a witness to the alleged corruption of the APBDes in Citemu Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency for the 2018-2020 Fiscal Year with the suspect Supriyadi. However, the Cirebon Police instead named Nurhayati a suspect.
Through the video, Nurhayati admitted that she was disappointed that she was made a suspect. In fact, he is a reporter and has been assisting the police in investigating the case for almost two years.
“At the end of 2021, I was named a suspect on the basis of instructions from Kajari (Head of the District Attorney) from Cirebon,” said Nurhayati.
The case has caused many objections. One of them is the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK). Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Maneger Nasution is concerned that this bad precedent will hinder efforts to eradicate corruption. According to him, as a reporter, Nurhayati should be appreciated.
“This case makes parties who know about corruption crimes will not dare to report, for fear of being accused like Nurhayati,” said Maneger in a written statement received by Kompas.com, last Monday.
He also considered that the status of a suspect assigned to a reporter for a corruption case “hurts common sense, legal justice and public justice”.
