Indonesian Puppeters Association (Pepadi) went to the Criminal Investigation Police of the National Police to report Ustaz Khalid Basalamah about the saying ‘haram puppet’. However, the report was not received by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The reason is that the report related to Khalid Basalamah has been submitted first by the artist Sandy Tumiwa. This statement was conveyed by Pepadi’s attorney, Roelly Temawela.
“It turns out that the report for Ustaz Khalid Basalamah has been received with a police report on February 17,” said Roelly to reporters, Monday (21/2/2022).
Therefore, Roelly said his party would coordinate further with Sandy Tumiwa’s attorney. In addition, Pepadi plans to hold a petition to bring the matter to the attention of the police.
“Earlier, the results of the discussion with our investigative team will later coordinate with his attorney, Mr. Sandi. Then we will make a letter of complaint to the Police as well as an attachment to the petition and all cultural actors so that this case gets attention,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that Pepadi wanted to report Ustaz Khalid Basalamah about his remarks about ‘haram puppets’ to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. Pepadi makes a report while wearing a puppet costume.
“This is me using his Kresno clothes. Betoro Brahama has a puppet show. That is the Pandava ambassador to ask for his rights over Hastinapura. So this is a struggle to seize independence and seize our sovereignty. So our symbol,” Korwil Pepadi Bambang Brata Aji told reporters. Monday (21/2/2022).
According to Bambang, Khalid Basalamah’s words have insulted wayang as a society’s culture. He called Khalid Basalamah like starting a war.
“Khalid Basalamah, for us, the puppeteers, has insulted the culture that we have worked so hard to fight for. challenge war and abstinence we reject, “said Bambang.
