The legal adviser to Jokowi’s volunteer group, Ferry Manulang, revealed the reason for Bareskrim Polri’s rejection of reports made by his party to academics Rocky Gerung who is considered to have insulted President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Ferry said Bareskrim rejected the report because there was no information from Jokowi as the party allegedly insulted by Rocky Gerung.
“Because according to them, in order to make a report, there must be clarification from the president as a person who feels he has been disadvantaged,” Ferry said when met by journalists at Bareskrim Polri, Jakarta, Monday (31/7) evening.
As a result of this rejection, the report that was submitted eventually turned into just a public complaint. However, Ferry claimed that the dumas could turn into a report if the police had received information from Jokowi.
“But there is still a big possibility that it will be upgraded to a report. If they are investigators, they have visited the President and clarified our complaint,” he said.
CNNIndonesia.com have tried to contact the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Sandi Nugroho via text message and telephone via Whatsapp to find out the reason for the refusal. However, the concerned has not yet responded.
On the other hand, United Indonesia Volunteers reported Rocky Gerung and Refly Harun to Polda Metro Jaya for allegedly insulting President Jokowi.
Reports against the two were received by the police and registered with numbers LP/B/4459/VII/2023/SPKT POLDA METRO JAYA on July 31, 2023.
“I, as the General Chairperson of the United Indonesia Volunteers today, officially report Rocky Gerung and Refly Harun,” said the General Chairperson of the United Indonesia Volunteers, Lisman Hasibuan at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday (31/7) evening.
A video circulating on social media shows Rocky speaking at an event. In the viral video, Rocky is considered to have insulted Jokowi.
The head of Barricade 98, Benny Rhamdani, who is a representative for a number of volunteer groups, assessed that Rocky’s words in an event that went viral on social media had insulted Jokowi as president.
Separately, Rocky explained that “stupid bastard” was his expression to criticize Jokowi’s policies and position as President, not in the sense of personal or personal insult. He considered that such expressions were quite commonplace in democratic political debate forums.
Rocky objects when the ‘stupid bastard’ is associated with eastern culture with its norms of politeness. It assesses Indonesia to return to a feudal system if it still thinks that way.
“So if the word rascal is included in ethnolinguistics, it’s actually a good term, a term that shows intimacy. So I just said, ‘Indeed, the bastard is President Jokowi’. In that argument, it’s an atmosphere of political debate, I’m not insulting him,” said Rocky.
