Barcelona celebrating success in winning LaLiga 2022/2023 after losing to Real Sociedad. Barça coach Xavi Hernandez reveals his toughest moment of the season.
Barca gave up 1-2 to Sociedad at Camp Nou, Sunday (21/5) in the morning WIB. A pair of goals by Mikel Merino and Alexander Sorloth were only answered once by Robert Lewandowski at the end of the game.
However, the defeat did not affect Barcelona because they had locked the league title since last week. After the match against Sociedad, Barcelona lifted the LaLiga championship trophy in front of tens of thousands of supporters who filled the stadium.
It was Barcelona’s first LaLiga title in four seasons. Barcelona won the competition with eternal rivals, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.
Xavi Hernandez is so happy because Barcelona’s success means that he has succeeded in silencing critics. Xavi also revealed that his toughest moment this season was the 1-3 defeat at Real Madrid last October.
“This league title is very important for me personally because you always have pressure. So far there has been a lot of criticism for me. I know I know what I’m up against, and I know the level of difficulty and how big the expectations are,” Xavi said in AS.
“There were very difficult moments. The defeat at the Bernabeu was very tough and I had a difficult moment. After the game there was a talk with the players and I think after that things started to change.”
Barca’s defeat in El Clasico made Xavi receive various criticisms. However, afterwards Barcelona instead it raced unbeaten in 13 matches to take control of the competition.
“You suffer three times as a coach because you are responsible for everything. The worst moment is when you feel you are not trusted. But of course there is criticism, but the environment at Barca is cruel,” he continued.
“This is a night of celebration and joy. I thank the president, who recruited me, the staff, and the fans. These have been spectacular years,” he added. Xavi Hernandez.
