Xavi started his journey as Barcelona coach at the weekend. Barcelona got a positive result by beating Espanyol in a match titled the Catalan Derby.
Barcelona will then host Benfica at Camp Nou in the continued Group E of the Champions League, Wednesday (11/24/2021) early morning hrs. The Blaugrana won an absolute victory to lock the ticket to the last 16.
“Our confidence is very high right now and tomorrow is the final. We want to win like in every other game. The team is motivated,” said Jordi Alba as quoted from UEFA’s official website.
Barcelona brushed Benfica 0-3 in the first meeting at the Estadio da Luz. Alba admitted his team had many chances in that match, but never scored a goal.
“When we played in Portugal, we had a lot of chances. We have to be aware of their counter-attacks, we know them well, we know it will be difficult. We need to take advantage of playing at home with our fans and hopefully win.”
Barcelona haven’t lost since Ronald Koeman was sacked. With Sergi Barjuan as interim coach before Xavi arrived, Barca won two draws and one win.
