That was fun again. PSG – Barcelona was a goal celebration with 5 goals, where the visitors came out on top. However, the Parisians erased a deficit early in the second half. This was followed by a mini-remontada via Raphinha and Christensen. Next week all the pressure will be on Mbappé’s shoulders to turn around a crooked situation.
PSG – Barcelona in a nutshell:
- Key moment: Xavi’s substitutions make the difference for Barcelona. Pedri is barely on the field when he sets up Raphinha’s equally beautiful second goal with a wonderful pass. Fifteen minutes later, Christensen, another substitute, scored the winning goal.
- Man of the match: In a match to die for, Raphinha stood out with his first CL goals for the Catalans. The Brazilian is the first Barça player to score twice in a match in the Champions League knockout stages since Lionel Messi in the semi-final against Liverpool in 2019.
- Striking: Not one shot on target. It was clearly not Kylian Mbappé’s night. In his possibly last CL appearance for PSG at the Parc des Princes, the French star player was a shadow of himself. The Barça defense with a strong Araujo and the equally impressive 17-year-old Cubarsi kept him in perfect control.
Raphinha gives Barça a deserved lead
Propelled by the vibrant atmosphere in the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain immediately took the lead. Yet it was Barcelona that provided the first threat when Raphinha was suddenly able to rush towards goal alone. Only a well-anticipated Donnarumma and Dame Fortuna could save PSG from an early deficit.
Halfway through the first half, the same Donnarumma looked a lot less good. The Italian goalkeeper was too easily defeated by Lewandowski on a corner kick. Mendes was a lifesaver for PSG and was able to clear the ball just before the goal line.
Despite PSG’s initial field dominance, Barcelona was the most dangerous team and was gaining more and more steam. Raphinha first collided with a save from Donnarumma, but with peace in sight, the most dangerous man at Barça was still able to make the difference.
Just in front of the oncoming Lewandowski’s nose, Donnarumma was only halfway to a masterly beautiful cross – outside left – from Yamal. Raphinha was presented with the 0-1 on a platter and gave the Catalans a deserved lead.

Barça substitutes wipe out PSG’s blitz start
It must have been a strong scolding from Luis Enrique during half-time, because PSG came out of the dressing room feeling reborn. In just three minutes the home team completely reversed the roles. It went from 0-1 to 2-1 very quickly.
Against his former team, Dembélé scored a cannon shot that rocked the Parc des Princes. With his left hand he drove the ball high into the goal.
PSG was all about it, because barely three minutes after the equalizer it was already 2-1. Ruiz guided Vitinha into the box and the Portuguese finished it off with a nice diagonal shot. At Barcelona they did not know what hit them, the visitors escaped worse when Ter Stegen was able to push Barcola’s shot against the crossbar.

Xavi intervened with the input of Félix and Pedri and that turned out to be a golden move. Pedri immediately came up with a piece of art. He dropped the ball beautifully at the back of the PSG defense and Raphinha’s finishing was at the same level. Only ahead of Donnarumma did he score his second of the evening in one go.

Fifteen minutes before the end, the penny fell Barça’s way. Dembélé saw his shot hit the post and on the other side it was hit on a corner for the visitors. Once again a substitute made the difference, Christensen headed Barcelona back into the lead.
PSG did everything they could, but another comeback was no longer possible for the Parisians. Next Tuesday, the French champion awaits a tough job in Barcelona.

End
PSG against Barcelona has previously produced fireworks in the Champions League and tonight was no different. The Catalans came out on top in a true spectacle. PSG went from 0-1 to 2-1 with a blitz start in the second half, but star Raphinha and substitute Christensen turned the tables once again. PSG faces a tough task at Camp Nou.
Will Mbappe do anything else?
PSG gets four minutes of extra time to avert defeat. Can Mbappé, working on a particularly pale match, unleash his devils again?
4 – extra time
An extra 4 minutes will be added.
Beraldo and Fermin take yellow
Fermin asks for a yellow card for Beraldo a little too emphatically after a foul. Beraldo gets that card, but Fermin himself also goes into ref Taylor’s book.
Yellow for Christensen
Barcelona will also have to do without Christensen in the second leg in addition to Sergi Roberto. He also takes a yellow card and faces a suspension.
A rare mistake by Cubarsi puts Dembélé in position in the box. He tries to reach Mbappé at the far post, but his cross lacks precision.
Yellow for Cubarsi
Cubarsi hangs a little too hard on Barcola and receives a justified yellow card. PSG is now trying to do everything it can to prevent a home defeat. It remains a spectacle in Paris.
Christensen creates a new turnaround!
What an incredible match! Barcelona takes the lead again! Newly substituted Christensen is lost on a corner and heads in from close range.
