Sergi Roberto and Robert Lewandowski scored two goals near the end of the first half, giving leaders Barcelona a 2-0 victory over struggling Cadiz today, Sunday, and the team boosts its hopes of winning its 27th title in the Spanish First Division.
Barcelona leads the competition with 59 points, eight ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, and 16 points ahead of third-placed Real Sociedad.
Barcelona has never lost the league title after being at least eight points ahead of its closest competitors.
Cadiz, who have won five of their 22 games this season, are 17th with 22 points, two ahead of Valencia, who are in the relegation zone but have played 21 matches.
Roberto put Barcelona ahead in the 43rd minute with a close-range shot, after he followed up the attempt of his colleague Ferran Torres.
Lewandowski strengthened the hosts’ advantage with a low shot from inside the penalty area.
The referee canceled two goals in favor of Cadiz, the first of which was due to offside, and the second due to a mistake in favor of goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
