The intention is that those projects that began in the previous mandate, such as the redevelopment of Meridiana Avenue, do not stop. For this reason, works, safety and health services have begun to be tendered for the works planned to remodel this artery between the streets. Majorca, Navas de Tolosa and Josep Estevill. The action should be developed, in this first phase, once the contracts are resolved. The opening of tenders is scheduled for the beginning of July, so that the works could start this fall with an investment of 6.6 million euros. Audit to control the redevelopment of the Rambla and palliative actions in the Model

That of the Meridiana is not the only draft performance that will be launched in the coming months. The City Council has also disarmed the tender for the works and drainage services for the Diagonal collector. These works are considered essential by the government team for the connection of the tram on this avenue. The City Council considers that this connection project is more necessary than ever after the pandemic to reduce traffic levels in the city.

A part of these works and associated services, with a total cost of 7.7 million euros, were tendered before the coronavirus crisis. Now the public company Barcelona Infraestructures Municipals (Bimsa) will launch another package. Before the state of alarm, the City Council anticipated that the end of these works could link up with those of the streetcar of the Generalitat and of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM).

The old Modelo prison will also be the subject of a palliative intervention to prevent the deterioration of the buildings on the premises. Thus, the Barcelona City Council plans to invest 420,000 euros in services that will last one year, extendable for another year. The work commissioned by Bimsa must be carried out in such a way as to guarantee activities within the prison, such as visits to the museum tour, filming and specific events.

Other works that are planned to activate shortly are those of the Rambla. Before the state of alarm, the works were tendered and now an audit has been put out to tender to control the redevelopment works of the promenade between Colom and Canaletes. The contracted company must make periodic reports on the status of the works, which are divided into five sections and five phases. The successful bidder must monitor that the execution of the plan by the team of architects KmZero, the budgets and the intervention conform to the municipal criteria.

Another of the works that will start shortly is an old demand from the residents of Poble Sec and the Raval. It affects the collector who must solve the problem of the floods that occur in these neighborhoods, on the side and side of the Paral·lel, when it rains with intensity.

Palm trees and service gallery on the Colom promenade

One of the actions that have been put out to tender these days are the works in the service gallery of the Colom promenade between the Portal of the Pau and Via Laietana. The works on this artery will involve the replacement of the current palm trees that run along the promenade. This intervention, which will also mean reinforcing the walls of this service gallery that run underground, cost 1.4 million euros.
