The famous, and controversial, lever of Barça Studiosannounced in 2022 and for which a total of 100 million euros (109.15 million dollars) had to be entered, 40 million (43.66 million dollars) in a first payment and 60 million (65.49 million dollars) in a later one, for 24.5 percent of the 49 percent sold to OrpheusMediawas thus unblocked with the agreement reached on Tuesday and signed this Thursday.
The missing 60 million euros are expected to be covered, admitted a source from the club, during the last quarter of the year and will be noted for the next financial year, with less urgency provided that in the three weeks remaining until the end of August Barça can add some new income that gives it a boost in the market.
In this way, the club will be able to close the 2023-24 financial year with a profit and, most importantly, get closer to the 1:1 rule in the transfer market this summer, vital in LaLiga’s financial fair play and which allows it, in addition to registering the pending players in the squad, to do the same with Dani Olmo and keep open the option of signing a left-footed winger, a position in which it has not yet been definitively ruled out, despite everything that has happened, Nico Williams although the club is exploring other options.
