Barcelona from the Carretera de l’Arrabassada

Guillermo Landete shares in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia this pair of photographs “taken in the morning from the Carretera de l’Arrabassada”, in Barcelona.

This road connects the municipalities of Barcelona and San Cugat del Vallès, crossing the Collserola mountain range through the Coll de l’Erola.

The traffic flow is considerable, since in addition to linking both municipalities, it is also usually used to go to the Tibidabo amusement park.

Due to the topography of the Collserola mountain range, the route of the road is very sinuous, and sadly known by the people of Barcelona for the high number of accidents that take place and for the illegal car and motorcycle races that are organized.

Halfway there are the ruins of the Arrabassada casino, which was built in 1911 and was the symbol of luxury in a city in full economic expansion.

This road in the Sierra de Collserola, which in the past was used for car and motorcycle tests, is another of the many points from which to obtain incredible views of the city.
