The City of Barcelona will distribute 80,000 plants with the purchases in the municipal markets between April 28 and May 7. The initiative, which will be staggered in all the markets, is part of a campaign that starts on Tuesday to promote the planting of green in the city’s windows and balconies.
The plants, which will be distributed preferably with online purchases, had to be planted during the month of April in different areas of the city. For this reason, the initiative has a double objective: on the one hand, to support the gardening and nursery sector, which has lost sales of a large part of seasonal plants, and on the other hand, to promote local purchases from municipal markets .

The ‘Plant me on the balcony’ campaign will encourage everyone who gives one of the plants to put it on the balcony or window and share the images through the hashtag # PlantamAlBalcó. The appeal, however, is not only limited to these plants but in general is made to all citizens to share the green of the servants windows and balconies under the same label.
Besides, a web page will be activated (barcelona.cat/plantamalbalco) where the typology of plants delivered, the main characteristics will be explained and a video tutorial from the Center de Formació del Laberint will be made available to show how they have to be transplanted and cared for, as well as links of interest to increase the green at home with the existing resources in the current circumstances.
