9:21 – FC Barcelona is still in negotiations with Manchester United about a possible transfer of Frenkie de Jong. The superpowers have not yet reached an agreement on the midfielder. The Catalans, in turn, have an important condition to sell the seasoning.
According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona has announced that De Jong cannot leave for less than 86 million euros. United made an offer of sixty million euros at an earlier stage of the negotiations, and that amount could rise to eighty million euros due to possible bonuses. However, Barcelona was not satisfied with that.
In the Camp Nou, people want certainty about the transfer fee. Barcelona want to use the money from de Jong to get new players and that is not possible if the amount is formed by any bonuses. Due to certain rules of La Liga, Barça want to see a certain amount of money in the account anyway. The question is how far United will go for the midfielder.
De Jong (25) is currently enjoying his holiday and has already given his vision. He doesn’t necessarily have to leave Barcelona, where he can start his fourth season. He also wants to play the Champions League and that is not possible at United. In Manchester, however, he can again work with Erik ten Hag, who was also his trainer during his time at Ajax.
