The choice of venue depends on several factors, such as the availability of infrastructure and weather conditions, although the teams have great decision-making power.
During the next six months the competition will announce which city will host the 38th edition of the America’s Cup of sailing. Dalton, after confirming the interest of the Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat of Catalonia, has indicated that the organization does not find any problems in repeating the location.

Barcelona is committed to promoting the nautical sector. In fact, on September 1, the Copa América sailing and the Generalitat of Catalonia signed a collaboration agreement that seeks to promote the nautical sector in the Catalan territory.

It is estimated that the Copa América, and all related activities, generate an economic impact of 1,200 million euros in Catalonia and 19,000 jobs will be created, according to an impact study carried out by the Fbcn. This data represents the equivalent of 0.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Catalonia for the last year.
The 37th edition of the Sailing America’s Cup will begin in Barcelona on August 22, 2024 with the opening ceremony. Subsequently, the regattas prior to the competition will be held and the Match will be held between October 12 and 27.
