Four games, four wins, twelve points: Everything is going perfectly at FC Barcelona and the Spanish press is celebrating head coach Hansi Flick. The sports newspaper AS headlined on Sunday: “This Barça is Rock & Roll”. The day before, the Catalans had beaten newly promoted Rayo Vallecano 7-0 and were playing themselves into a frenzy.

Although the outstanding player was undoubtedly Raphinha, who played a decisive role in the victory with three goals, Lamine Yamal was also able to impress once again. The 17-year-old youngster provided two assists and set a new record with his assist for Robert Lewandowski’s interim 2-0 lead.

It was his 14th point (six goals, eight assists) in his 42nd league game. According to Opta, no other player in the 21st century before the child prodigy had achieved this before his 18th birthday. The previous record holder was another Barça player, Bojan Krkic. The Spaniard, who was also once called a child prodigy, scored ten goals and provided three assists before he came of age.

Lamine Yamal already involved in five goals

He even outshone Lionel Messi with another record. The last time Barça managed four assists in the first four match days was Lionel Messi in 2015. With his goal on the second match day against Athletic Bilbao, Yamal has now been involved in five goals this season.

The Spanish European champions will now be travelling on an international trip before their next challenge against Barça. In mid-September they will face FC Girona, third in the table last season. Four days later, they will play their first Champions League match against AS Monaco.
